Hypnosis is a process that creates a non-ordinary state of consciousness, called a trance state. This non-ordinary state allows you to become highly receptive to suggestions, opens the access to creativity, imagination, healing capacities, insights, and memories that are not available to you in a regular state of consciousness.
Hypnotic consciousness feels like a pleasant highly relaxed state, between sleeping and waking.
Hypnotic state can also be induced by a hypnotherapist or may happen spontaneously. Every day you go into a hypnotic state of mind on your own, for example, when you are engrossed in reading a very interesting book, or when you are driving on a highway and do not notice how we arrived at our destination.
All hypnosis is self hypnosis because you give an internal agreement to go into trance. Nobody can be hypnotized against her will. In hypnosis, you retain all control on whether to accept a suggestion.
Experiencing a hypnotic trance is a skill that can be learned. The more you get hypnotized, the quicker you achieve a trance state.
Hypnotherapy works with your conscious and subconscious mind via verbal and non-verbal communication between the hypnotherapist and the client.
Transpersonal Hypnotherapy is based on a paradigm that you are more than your personal self. Whereis regular hypnotherapy works with conscious and subconscious aspects of the mind, transpersonal hypnotherapy works directly with superconscious aspect, the higher self, the transcendent aspect of consciousness. This superconscious aspect is called by many names, the Higher Self, the Inner Wisdom, the Christ-consciousness, the Divine Aspect, the Intuition, the Atman, etc. Frequently, my clients are able to access expanded states of consciousness, similar to the ones accessed in deep meditation. Those are profound states of divine presence, when the ego-consciousness is transcended or put aside. These transpersonal states of consciousness enable deep healing, profound changes, and deep spiritual insights.
Transpersonal Hypnotherapy directly involves your Higher Self as a co-therapist. Through voice dialog between the client and the practitioner, the healing is guided by your transpersonal mind.
