I have been struggling with some extra pounds for a long time, as I am prone to emotional eating. Over the course of the last couple of months, with all the stress going on, I gained quite a lot of extra weight. It became more difficult to briskly walk uphill, and the hiking pants I wore last year were getting very tight. If I were to continue hiking as before, my emotional eating had to be taken care of. Being a hypnotherapist, of course, I decided to use hypnosis for this issue.
The most frequent technique used for weight loss is directive hypnosis, when direct suggestions to eat healthier are given to a client in hypnosis. For many people, including myself, directive hypnosis does not work. Frequently, directive language causes resistance, unconscious psychological protection from being forced to do something, even if it is for the better of the client. Last year, a fellow hypnotherapist worked with my weight loss issue by using directive hypnosis for a few sessions. As a result, I gained weight instead.
Last week, I asked a colleague of mine to work with me on my weight issues using a wonderful, innovative hypnosis technique, called the Simpson Method. This technique works directly with your Superconscious Mind, also called the Higher Self or Higher Mind, to do the healing. The session is done in a state of deep trance when you feel so relaxed that you do not even want to talk. The communication with your Superconscious Mind is done by a hypnotherapist via ideo-motor responses of your fingers. The healing is done by your Superconscious. Sometimes, you are not consciously aware of what your Superconscious Mind is doing, unless it decides to let you know about it, or you yourself ask for information to gain more insight into the problem.
Those sessions are excellent for healing physical pains and aches in the body, weight loss, and getting over long-standing emotional issues. Superconscious may optimize the way your body functions, reset metabolic set point, increase metabolism, and release the habit of emotional eating. Information may also be gained about what foods are good for you, what weight is optimal for your body, etc.
My session was very relaxing. At first, after inducing a deep trance state, my colleague asked my Superconscious Mind to release trauma that may have been related to emotional eating. I was replying to her questions by raising my fingers, the index finger for “ Yes” and the pinkie finger for “No”. I some-how knew which finger to raise even though sometimes my conscious mind would think “no”, but a “yes” finger would go up.
I was then taken to a few scenes from my childhood when I was left sitting looking at my food for several hours until I would finish it. The message I received was that I was still eating to make my parents happy. This was released.
My colleague then asked my Superconscious Mind to release the habits of mindlessly pushing foods while reading a book or watching a youtube video. She asked questions about the foods that would be beneficial for me. Apparently, I was to increase my protein intake and decrease carbs (no higher mind guidance needed here), soy was not good for me, but gluten should be okay.
She also asked to optimize the function of my digestive system and inquired whether I would benefit from some supplements we discussed before the session.
She then suggested for my Superconscious Mind to instill in my body the habit of being mindful of every bite of food I take in.
I asked my Superconscious to give me additional insights about my weight gain and received the message that the only way for me to stop gaining extra weight was to change my relationship with food; to look at food as food, not like a pill for negative emotions. I was given an image and a bodily sensation of the version of myself that has a good relationship with food.
The last message was a metaphor. I was alone on a ship in a deep sea. I had a choice of laying on a recliner on the deck doing nothing and gaining some weight or going around the ship and exercising. But no matter what I do, the ship will still take me to the destination I am supposed to arrive at, no matter what. The message for me was that it is not a big deal to gain a few extra pounds. I will still be walking the same path I am supposed to.
After my online session ended, I felt hungry and went to the kitchen. Instead of quickly shoving into my mouth a handful of nuts and some chips, I calmly retrieved from the fridge a plate of salad, a piece of lean meat, an apple, and a few nuts. I finished the food feeling every bite in my mouth. It has been a few days now. I am still feeling great and continue eating mindfully. I still sometimes have an urge to stuff negative emotions with food, but can easily resist the temptation. I may still need another hypnosis session in the future, but for now, I am very happy with the results.
I have introduced the Simpson Protocol into my practice. So far, my clients really like it. It is very healing for the physical body and gives deep insights for the conscious mind.
If you would like to try hypnosis for your extra weight, physical pains, anxiety, or depression, let me know. All sessions are done on zoom.
