Like the five senses you use to operate in the external reality, you have inner channels of perception for receiving information internally. When communicating with the spirit world, you use those inner senses. It is essential to learn about them to make your spirit communication effective.
Some of those inner channels correspond to the five external ones, vision, hearing, smelling, etc. You are already using your inner senses every time you imagine something or recall from memory.
The discipline of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) researched the inner senses extensively. An NLP practitioner may figure out your most developed internal channels of perception by the movement of your eyes, the words you are using, and your voice’s tone,
You do not need to learn NLP to find out about your dominant inner sense. This simple exercise will help you.
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Imagine yourself being at an ocean beach right now, at this very moment.
Notice whether you can visualize the color of the ocean. Can you see if there is sand or gravel on the beach? What color is the sky?
Now, listen. Can you hear the sounds of the waves, the cries of the seagulls?
Take a deep breath, can you smell the ocean?
Imagine bending down and picking up a handful of sand. Can you feel the sand on your fingers?
Raise the hand with the sand towards your mouth, and lightly touch the sand with your tongue. How does the sand taste?
Now, open your eyes and think about the sensations that came to you. What inner sense gave you the strongest impression?
Did you see the colors of the ocean and the sky? In this case, you are a “visual” person, a clairvoyant.
Could you clearly hear the sounds of the ocean and the seagulls? You are auditory, or clairaudient.
Could you sense the movement of your body bending to pick up a handful of sand? Did you feel the sand in your hand? In this case, you are kinesthetic or clairsentient.
Did you sense the strong smell of the ocean? You are clairalient.
If you had a strong taste of the sand in your mouth (even if it was unpleasant), you are clairgustatory.
It could be that you did not get many impressions at all. However, you somehow knew that the seagulls were there and that there was sand at the beach. In this case, you are claircognizant. You have a so-called “I know” inner channel. You receive information by just knowing about it.
Why is it so important to find out about your dominant inner sense? You receive the information from “behind the veil” from your most developed internal channel. If you are clairsentient, but not clairvoyant, do not expect to “see.” You will feel the emotions, the movements, the texture instead. If you are claircognizant, but your other inner “clairs” are not dominant, the information will come to you through “just knowing.” Do not discard it.
When you are making the first steps in communicating with the spirit realm, pay particular attention to your most developed inner channel of perception. Do not discard those weird sensations if you are clairsentient. Do not think that the knowledge you received is just your imagination if you are claircognizant.
No inner sense is better than another. About 80% of people are visual, i.e., clairvoyant. Many people have several developed “clairs”. For example, I am clairvoyant and clairsentient. When I connect with my spirit guides, I mostly see and feel. My other inner channels are gradually improving, but my clairaudience is still not very strong. With time and deliberate practice, your other “clairs” will develop almost to the same degree. However, this is not necessarily. Just one or two well developed “clairs” may be all that you need for clear communication.
